The shining lights are a metaphor for human life and the soul going through the stages of takeoff, blossoming, and dying out… Launching these heavenly lanterns, symbolizing the fulfillment of wishes, people waste their vital time on the transient joys of the material world, only for them to pass into oblivion. Chasing after our desires, we miss out on the main thing – the instant of life, the contact between the past and the future – failing to understand the importance of the spiritual dimension, as well as the transience of our existence.
